Does anyone know if Shopsmith has a saw blade sharpening service available? I believe my carbide tipped combination blade needs to be sharpened. There is no one in my area who does this.

Don't know where you live but here Rockler and Woodcrafter do it but unless the blade was expensive sharpening with shipping may cost more that a new blade.

Forrest Manufacturing sharpens and repairs blades from any manufacturer. Their rates appear to be reasonable.

I'm not sure of your location or situation, but if you've only checked the yellow pages for saw sharpening services, you might still be in luck. If you haven't already, I would try calling any local, independent sawmills, cabinet shops, hardware stores, etc. They may know of someone who provides the service your looking for. Advertising in the yellow pages is very expensive and probably not worthwhile for such a niche market, especially in sparsley populated areas.

Good Luck!

If someone wants to go into the saw blade sharpening business to support Forum users, I have a real nice Foley-Belsaw Model 1055, Sharp-all saw & tool grinder. Plus I have the chain saw attachment. It is quite heavy and located in Plant City, FL near Tampa. I am looking for $200.00 plus any packing and shipping if required. I have never used it since I got it. A very detailed manual comes with it. Please contact me for pictures and questions.

You may want to check a Tool Rental. When they rent their power tools, they want the blades to be sharp and some have the equipment to sharpen the blades. I had mine sharpened last year and it was only $3.00 a blade.
