I bought a new power switch before getting the PowerPro. That turned out to be a good decision, because the PP requires all 4 connection be used. That's all good and well, but------

The new switch has a yellow tip on the red toggle. On the yellow tip there are words saying "remove to lock". One would think this would operate like the older all red switch toggle. I pulled using fingers only, then finger nails trying to get beneath the yellow piece. It was a NO GO!!

Rather than fight with it and maybe break the switch, just let it be. Dave had told me to not remove that part - instead put a password into the PowerPro. So I asked Wes and found putting a password into the PP was pretty easy.

Here's how --- Press the lock button and the 900 button at the same time. The words ENTER PASSWORD will appear on the display followed by "0000" , Confirm. If you do nothing no password will be selected. Just turn off the power and wait for the display to go off and blink a couple times..

If you want to select a password, use the 900 button for the first digit, the 1350 button for the 2nd digit, the 2000 button for the 3rd, and the 3450 button for the 4th. Each button will select a number by pressing it a given number of times. The selected numbers will increase from one to 9, then around to 0. Once a four digit password is selected, shut off the power and wait for the display to completely go off.

Now when you turn on the power the display will ask you for the password. If you want to turn off the password, you will first have to enter it, then press the lock and the 900 buttons at the same time. Then enter "0000" using the appropriate buttons (above).

I got my replacement switch in the mail today and agree it is really hard to remove the lock. So hard that it is really not practical to use the thing.

My missing Use Instructions portion of the manual also arrived and as it includes the procedure for setting or changing the password I suspect that you are also missing this portion.

Not too much in the way of surprising new information, excepting the information on the Chart button. I hadn't given this control any thought and as I don't think I have seen anyone posting about this, I wonder if anyone got this part of the manual.

In short with the motor stopped, you can push this button and work through a series of detailed menus to set your speed based on tool, type of operation, and even hard or soft wood. Someone spent a bit of time on this one.

I was thinking about scanning them tomorrow but I guess that is no longer necessary. In a pinch Shopsmith will send them free of charge as well.

Thanks Troy! Yep! They are missing! Since the Maintenance and Troubleshooting pages were behind the Use Instructions Tab, I didn't look any farther for them. Must be an age thing! Will call SS tomorrow.
