Time to work on the shop.

Time has come and passed to do something with the out side of the shop. It has been painted twice but it has been 14 years of gulf coast weather and it is pretty weathered. I am going today to order vinyl siding from the big box store. I am making a new door for it and my bride wants flower boxes under the widow’s She said it did not have to look like a shop. The 4 words to happy marriage, (yes mam & your right.) You know it will look like a shop with flower boxes. But it well keep her happy and I can buy more tools.
I will post some pics when it is done.

Those are two good thoughts. If I could keep her from watering down the shop to make them grow.
I am also glad she does not read the forum I would be sleeping with the shopsmith.
Options Besides Vinyl Siding

I have seen many vinyl sidings shrink and allow water into a wall. Look at the HardiePlank by James Hardie. It is made of cement fiber. It holds up very well and does not shrink after a few years of sun. Also the price is in the ballpark. Easy to install with common tools. Just another though.

I think the hardie plank is the better of the two. But I am on a vinyl budget. I have had vinyl siding on an addition for about 9 years now It has held up well so far. That has included Ivan and Katrina a number of smaller storms and hurricanes.

You might want to check for a vinyl siding supplier in your area instead of the big box. I needed a fair amount a a couple of years ago to re-do my garage and some more when I replaced all of my exterior doors. The vinyl supplier had siding that was a perfect match to the rest of my house, a thicker gauge, and 30% cheaper per sheet when I bought a full box.
