I was out to see a nearly new (but 1980s vintage?) clone machine today that is offered for $1500 on the local Kijiji site. Bill Mayo mentions the brand in this post:

It is a WoodMaster.

It is a very close copy of the SS and I see where Bill noted no parts are interchangeable in the headstock.
This one ran smoothly and it does have cast iron tables:

I think it is over priced. For that money you can get a 510, probably with a few spts. I would rather have the "real thing"!

No way I would drop that kinda $$$ on that. I purchased my Shopsmith 510 brand new in 1989 for $1,299.00

I'd give him $400 if accompanied with all attachments and accessories that he has but only if he'd throw in that box of golf balls with it. He pays shipping.

Looking at the last picture, I don't think that guard would stop Dusty's golf balls......look at that saw blade!

Yes, this later model Wood Master is way over priced for my opinion. I only been paying $100-$200 for similar condition clones. The way and bench tubes are 1.675" on the Wood Master, Total Shop and other clone machines. The steel main table trunnion tubes will fit directly into the the Shopsmith carriage. Most of the clone parts are made from steel or cast iron vs aluminum used in the Shopsmith.
I have sold a couple of rebuilt Shopsmith headstocks for these clone machines this summer as I found that the Shopsmith wedge locks will allow tightening of the Headstock Lock Handle to where there is no play between the clone way tubes and the Shopsmith headstock. The .075" difference still allows the wedge locks to tighten firmly. I have found this is a simpler, cheaper and much better solution than machining and modifying various Shopsmith parts to fit inside the clone headstocks since there is no interchangeable headstock parts between the Shopsmith and clone headstocks.

According to the tag that one is a Canadian version with a 1.5 hp motor. I purchased the Woodmaster assembled in the United States, Harbor City, California, for right at $900.00 in 1982. The US version has a 2 HP motor.
I would like to get my hands on that one for parts but not at $1500.

I have a few clone motors which are listed at either 1 1/2 or 2 HP. These motors are all listed at 16.8 Amps at 110 VAC and 8.4 Amps at 220 VAC. These clone motors all have an ON and an OFF pushbutton on the motor pan.

These motors have a 56 frame mount and make excellant 110/220 VAC motors for powering belt driven shop equipment. (5/8" OD motor shaft) Quite heavy compared to the Shopsmith motors.
