It must have something to do with us as we get older, as me and my better half also used to do a lot of tent camping about 25 years ago. My "boss" now says that the only kind of camping we will do now is in an air conditioned motel room with a comfortable bed that you can let you feet down to the floor to get out of bed. Must admit that I kind of agree with her as I can remember all you mentioned.
