speed dial question

speed dial question

I am new to ss. when I turn my speed dial after I turn the machine on the speed indicator plate does not turn with the dial. does it suppose to or not. if it should turn how do i fix it?

More than likely, the speed dial is A) not on the speed changer shaft far enough to engage the gear that turns the speed indicator or B) the gear on the back of the speed dial are stripped. I would remove the dial with a 3/32" allen wrench and inspect it and the gear on the back. If it is stripped there is a gentleman in Whittier, CA that repairs them with a steel gear. If it is not stripped and the idler gear is in place, reinstall the speed dial making sure that it engages the idler gear.

I believe that if you view this Sawdust Session you will know what is wrong with your speed dial and may even fix it.

Then after doing that, you may want to take a gander at all of the Sawdust Sessions.
