How does the 10ER speed changer work? I'm trying to find information about it but can't see how it works. Does it act like the system similar to the Mark 5 where it self adjusts as you rotate the knob? Or does is just a belt tensioner that relaxs the tension so that you can easily manually move the belt over to a different size pulley?

Similar concept as the Mark V. The center section of the speed changer slides left or right, changing the pulley ratio for each of the two sides. You only manually switch pulley positions when going from low speed range to high and back.
