I just aquired a beltsander (used) and it has some damage from the PO's father...apparently he overtightened the the bolt in the first hole in the trunion, and collapsed the casting.
The verticle/horizontal action seems to be unaffected. and after much cleaning and adjustment, everything seems to be good.
Also in my research, i can't find any use for these 2 holes in the casting, besides initial transport, and a vague reference to keeping these bolts for later use...in positions other than horiz/or verticle.
Is there a use for the two extra holes???? in the trunion casting, that I am missing?

did u get the small table that comes with it . there should be 2 set screws also to hold the table

I briefly checked the manual for reference to the two holes and came up empty. However, I believe I can tell you what the holes are for. They are axillary to the trunnion lock. One comes into play in the horizontal position and the other in the vertical position. By using a bolt and nut (and flat washer) through that hole (which ever aligns through the trunnion) you can more securely lock the belt sander in position. I use my sander more frequently in the vertical position. I find that the trunnion lock is inadequate. This may be why the PO cranked down on the lock enough to do damage.

Yep, thats about all I could find also.
I haven't used the belt sander at all yet...so I guess I'll find out if the lock is adequate.
I'm not sure how I could repair this hole in the trunion casting
..or if I'll even need to
