Stand mount motorized scroll saw

I need help. I am new to Shopsmith Scroll Saws and am having a devil of a time with keeping blade tension. I get the blade set up properly and after several minutes of operation, the blade is real loose, I retension and same thing happens. Is it possible that the Scroll saw needs some parts to keep proper tension? pretty new at this, so I need all help I can get. I have followed all instructions and all I wind up doing is break or bend blades. Really frustrating.

Is it possible you are forcing the cut? Are the blades getting hot?
Try a slower feed rate.
Are you sure the rpm's are correct?

Do you have the old blade mounting system or the blade change system upgrade?

There are basically two models of Shopsmith Scroll Saws. There have been a couple (few) upgrades
like the "quick change blade" bot other than these changes they are all pretty much the same. Especially in regard to blade tension.
If you would post the Model Number, I will do a bit of research to see if I can come up with a explanation.
I have never had trouble with the blade losing tension but there is always a first. Mine is one of the older models (with some upgrades).
