On my newest find I see the end of the quill is different than my other SS.

Any idea why. It appears to be one piece.
it has a shoulder on it. This will also effect my saw blade aligment I assume.


there is a flat spot on the one on the left just failed to turn the quill for the picture.

Remove the one on the left, and install a correct one. That one looks backwards at first, except the reduced od part is too long. Belay that! That is a collar for a 2 bearing quill. It is installed backwards. The smaller od goes towards the beraings.

farley, you do come up with some odd balls. Like you said, this is the end of the quill shaft. I'd pull the quill and check it out.

Be careful of the quill spring tension. I let it get away yesterday and it rapped my knuckles good.
