Just read this on the SSusers Forum. Is anyone aware of Shopsmith doing demos of the new Mark 7 ?? If this is in fact true then this could be a good sign for Shopsmith. Sure would like them to start up the TA's again.

The speed is now TWICE as fast... NO NOISE!!, that's right NO NOISE! the guy doing the demo didn't even use a microphone. The bearings are a lot bigger too, so more stability for turning etc. The darn thing lifts in BOTH directions! Motor above the table, motor below the table. This is now officially a router/shaper! not a slow speed router/shaper, but a REAL router/shaper. They just added two more tools to the thing. I guess thats why it's now the Mark 7, instead of the Mark 5. The Computer stuff could be the Only thing I would think of as flaky. I have had computer stuff go south way too often to trust them, but..... You have to move with the times. Oh yea, the Motor is BIGGER, and it runs with a soft start, 6-12 amp pull, so no more popped breakers. 120/230 wiring, so you get whichever you want. If you have 230 in your shop, wire it that way! AND it reverses! for turning thats a plus. No reeves pulley system either so thats cool too! And the case is a LOT beefier. It is cast, NOT sheet metal. You folks have to check this out if you get a chance, it's just tooooo cooool!!!!!
