FINALLY made my own accessory shelf

well after a long while and looking at pics and pdf files of the accessory shelf I have made my own out of a 2x8 and put things where I wanted them and added a few things
I solved the report of some people who said there rip fence would fall off sometimes with the small pegs and a hole for the clamp to grab.
let me know what you folks think.

ooooo I like it! A place for everything and everything in it's place
I really like your solution for keeping the fence in place. I finally decided to just leave mine locked to one of the tables because it either slides off or is just in the way.
A question though, do you find a problem reaching the casters now? Or bump your shins while moving the SS around?
The best thing about the shelf is having your most used items right there. I think you will notice less looking around for stuff and faster working.

yes I noticed that it takes a little more of a stretch to get to the casters now.
But its worth it because now I don't spend extra time looking for my different parts.

Oh yea, the convenience means a lot. I mounted a box under the bench tubes and that gives me a lot of storage. Drawers and shelf space. I left room for the casters, but it's a large box and is close to the ground and I pinch my feet under that box all the time since I only wear sandals anyway.
it's worth it though for the convenience.

Yes I made the horse from one sheet of plywood I saw the plans in a magazine and liked how they break down for storage. I attached the shelf with 4 lag screws that were 2 inches long with flat washers and I angled the joints to fit the shopsmith legs.

When you were thinking about doing this, did you give any thought to making the shelf deeper. I have a Shopsmith shelf and find that many of the tools I want to put there are not accommodated and would like to build a custom shelf (with more space available).
Some special attention would have to be given to the lift assist but other than that it seems that the shelf could be extended to the back side.
Nice job though. Better than paying big bucks for what you can do yourself.
