Problems with tilted table setup
Hello,
I'm trying to tilt the table to 40deg to make some angled cuts. But, when I tilt the table the saw blade doesn't line up with the slot in the table. I can't move the table far enough "inboard." What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
Todd

Todd you will have to extend the saw blade on the quill shaft to align with the table and to achieve the cut. Just be sure to lock everything down before cutting. (Table quill and headstock)

Welcome and don't worry about the question! The SS does have some things that are just a bit "different" from other machines, and you are not the first to not see that little thing. Nor would you be the first to forget the tighten the quill after moving it.
This is a very helpful and understanding bunch.

Her's another breakfast food 'situation': ALWAYS lock the carriage AND HEADSTOCK prior to raising to vertical!!!

Or, be sure the miter gauge clears the blade when tilting the table. The SS Carbide blade will cut aluminum.
Lots of these are " you only do that once" kinda deals.
Or, you don't have to fuss for 20 minutes trying to get the fence just right for a rip cut, if you remember you can just use the quill!!!!! I of course never did that, but I have heard of folks who did.
Bet there are more of them.

That is especially true if you have a lift assist. It can knock your brains out.
Not that I have ever done that.

Problems with tilted table setup
If you have the table height set so that the blade protrudes through the table insert, take extreme care that when you tilt the table you do not exert pressure on the blade.
I lost physical control of the table with the Table Tilt Lock unlocked. I had an extension table mounted on the right side of the main table. The entire weight of the table was immediately imparted to the blade.
The blade must have been slightly bent as it has not cut properly since that happened.
SAFETY NOTE: With the table tilted, the materials being cut will tend to slide downward on the table. The material above the blade will tend to slide into the blade - kickback time. Take care to adequately control the cutoffs. A splitter is a safety must in this configuration.
