There is a rusty Shopsmith jointer on craigslist for $89 is this worth the money.
I only use the Shopsmith for drill press, lathe and to run my bandsaw.

For that money, I would go for it. It really does not look to be that bad; however, you know nothing about the cutter head so there is some risk!

Actually the rust does not look all that bad(it be thin). I would check out the 'moving' parts before purchase though as Dusty mentioned. I assume you would 'pick up locally(that thing is quite heavy to be shipping). Realize it be a half century old(that not bad!). Parts still available from ss!
Offer them $75!:D.............or less!

Yep they can be. IF they are wide enough.

Something I forgot, the jointer has been on craiglist at least 3 time before.

Go for a short (1 hour) drive up the 95 and across the 195 and take a look. What is that, about a 120 mile week end drive on the interstae.

The jointer knives I have are nicked-up and look like the originals.
How wide is "wide enough?"
Has anyone seen this on youtube?

Are there other ways to sharpen jointer / planer knives?
