Found this inside the tubes of my shopsmith along with some rust and cobwebs!

Seems a chipmunk decided to stash some wood chips and corn in there and never came back

Squirrels get everywhere. What a bloody PITA they are.

Many years ago my wife and I went camping in northern Minnesota near Itasca State Park (where the Mississippi starts). Anyway we were there for 3 days. We didn't move our car in that time. When we went to leave the car (1969 Plymouth Valiant with the slant six) was running poorly, no power. I discovered they had pulled acorns and leaves and whatever into the air cleaner housing. It was packed solid.

What made you decide to look in the tubes, and where was the Shopsmith?

I had an old GMC Pickup that was just a farm truck. I used to keep a pile of napkins in the glove box. One day going out of the driveway, I saw a mouse tail pop up out of the driver's side crack in the hood/front fender. I stopped and he jumped out, and lo and behold, there was a mouse's nest built on top of the wheel well out of the old napkins. They had found a way through the firewall and drilled into the glove box to get the napkins. Resourceful little boogers.

Here's a good use for them (see attached)!

One time while camping, we went to friends site for the evening. Upon returning to our site and preparing to make our late night cup of coffee, we found a nest in our coffee mug. Them mice sure work fast!:D

It is said that these critters often forget where they stash thier stuff. It sounds like an epidemic of Alzeimers in the squirrel population.

I like the critters......slow roasted.

The SS bandsaw is also good for butchering work.

As you can tell from my user name, I love squirrells... especially in a stew.

I prefer using a .22 but can only use a shotgun in my home state.

After I'm done eating, I sit down and tie some flies with hair from the tail.



Hopefully I'll catch a few perch and the squirrel will feed me twice!

Over the winter I had my gas leaf blower stored in the shed. I pulled it out in the spring. A mouse or something had taken an entire ball of string in the shed and pulled it up the blower tube to make a nest.
