Hi Gang;
Well I have to report some bad news (at least to me). My Power Pro has died!!!:eek: I used it a couple days ago to make a fixture for a project and when I tried to start it up today all I got was a green display panel. No program codes, no chirps no display!!! I just called SS and the Power Pro guru is supposed to call back. Hope it is soon I am in the middle of something. I wonder why these things always seem to break when you want to use them.
I will keep everyone advised.

Good reason to have 2.
Not 2 power pro's of course (that would be OK) but any older low cost one that works OK.
Even a mini or for that matter even just a backup headstock. It only takes 5 minutes to swap headstocks if one quits.

Thanks for the kind words. The problem resolved itself!! No explanation from SS. I spoke to Wes who is in charge of the programming and he had no real explanation but he did hear of the same thing happening to another owner. Only two instances like this so far and he is attributing it to some capacitors on the circuit board.
The really odd thing is that the other instance happened in The Villages Fl about 10 miles North of me. I'd like to get ahold of that guy and compare notes!!
Wes also said that if it happens again that they would probably want to see it back in Dayton. I hope not cuz my son has my old headstock in Pa and I have his under a rehab program here in Leesburg Fl.
Only take things one day at a time.

Never fear, Bill! If they want to see your PowerPro headstock, they will first send you a loaner (older sheave style). You can ship the PowerPro back using that box and packing.

Glad you got yours back running! Did Wes have to give you any corrections? Are you still running it on a 20 amp wall GFCI outlet? Just curious about this because I have tried several wall mount outlets with no luck.

No Wes did make any corrections to the headstock, it came back up before he got a chance to return my call. (weekend got in the way)
When my wife came out to the shop she asked what was wrong and I turned it on to show her and it came up with a blank screen. I pushed a few buttons with no result and when I went to shut it down I pressed the "OFF" button and the program booted and it has been running ever since.
I have been working in electronics as a field service tech in the two way radio field and as an engineering tech at a major defence contractor and I have seen many intermittents and I have learned one thing about them, "They have a way of coming back" . So my biggest concern is the possibility of it coming back in the middle of something.

Funny I have seen the same thing about intermitten problems, they tend to grow in frequency as well. Sounds like you need to hurry on that rehab project.
