I have the dewalt 788 and a pretty please with it, but I have a motor problem that is preventing it from being used at the moment.

I look over and see 3 ss that have motors and if I had a SS scroll. I would be not be idle.

Has anyone ever had both the dewalt and the SS and has an opinion on the difference.

I am not talking about motor/stand alone etc. Performance is what I mean.

TIA

Farley-

Regarding the first part of the post, have you checked the yellow pages to see if there is a DeWalt repair facility in your area? I would think there would have to be in a city your size. I believe you would be dollars ahead.

Yea, I want to get it fixed, just wondering how good compared to the dewalt is the SS in case I see a "deal" to use as a spare.

Tucson, city of 1 million doesn't have a service center, have to go to Phoenix, thanks

To my unprofessional eyes, there's no comparison between that DeWalt and the ShopSmith. I've seen that DeWalt used quite a bit by people at the woodcraft shows, I've never seen a SS in use at one. I've used the old SS jigsaw, have one in fact. The DeWalt unit is worlds ahead of it.
