I've found a very little used Mark V for sale. I'm going to call him tomorrow to get more info. From the pictures that he emailed it looks almost brand new. From the pictures also I'm assuming it was built after 1984. There is a "push stick" and a "featherboard" shown in one of the pictures. Besides checking the operation of the drive, is there anything else that I should look for? Would $900 be a descent price for this?

Hard to tell with out also seeing the pix. A serial number and a model designation(500,505,510,520) would help. Also any 'extra' special purpose tools(jointer,bandsaw,belt sander.......).

That is a Mark V model 510. Assuming the usual basic items are with it, $900 would be a bit high in my area. I recently paid $600 for a 510 that runs fine after the sawdust was cleaned out of the head and $740 for a 510 that ran fine without more work than oiling the sheeves shafts. Both units had the basics.
Having said that, I note folks asking from $500 to $1500 on kijiji in Canada.

That is a nice clean machine. I would not have a problem with the price if all the basic accessories are with it and in as good of shape. Paying a little more than going rate for a premium machine is not a bad thing. Based on a new Mark 510 it is a great bargain.
