I'm not too interested in the SawStop but I must go to Woodcraft and check out their new Dust Collection System.

It appears to be and attachment that could be added to the Mark V.

Hey SHOPSMITH!! Are you paying attention? This is an attachment that I would buy in a minute.

I'd go straight up with mine though. I've been toying with this ever since the SharkGuard was introduced.

Added Comment: It has been improved from when I first saw it. This just may be the ticket.

Does anyone on the forum have experience using one of these? If so, please post your comments.

With my own deflector installed in the lower saw guard and this up above we might have near 100% dust collection.

Again I say: SHOPSMITH, you are about to (or have already) missed the boat.

Very useful links, guys. Thanks for posting.

I don't think they've missed their window of opportunity just yet. Why not let someone else do your R&D for you before you begin production? A few tweaks here and there and you've got a patentable product. (Now where's that tongue-in-cheek emoticon?) Or SS could simply outsource the production, silk screen a label that says, "Specially made for Shopsmith by Leeway Workshop" as has been done in the past and not have to mess with production costs.

Just so I'm clear, what does this new item do that the Shark Guard wouldn't? Even "in theory" is fine, I'm trying to wrap my head around what's special about this, thanks.

Me too, I don't get it. Looks like pretty much the same thing to me. Then again my idea of dust collection is open the front and back doors :o

They are pretty much the same thing. All they do that is not already done is a better job of collecting sawdust topside. I want to see the hose attachment to see if it provides any ideas that can be adapted to a hose I might have.

The Shopsmith can use a little help in this area. I think we can all agree on that.

The Shopsmith upper saw guard is great but if it had the vacuum feature it would be terrific.

You should be able to take a smaller diameter hose connection and adapt it to the standard pper guard...I seem to remember seeing a photo of this even though I can't find it now. a 1 1/4" fitting would probably work on the upper guard if you cut a hole inthe top and epoxied it in there.
