Tonight after work I took a walk around the subdivision for some exercise and fresh air.

Walking by one house with its closed garage-door, I heard the distinct sound: Table Saw blade whirring. Piece of wood being cut. Then saw-blade quiet. Then Dust Collector quiet. It sounded just like a Sawdust Session.

I'm dying to find out. Maybe I can send my wife (who has a sociable personality) to go find out who it is, and if they have the Shopsmith addiction.

heh, I found one guy in my neighborhood trying to sell his shopsmith at our big neighborhood garage sale last summer. I hear woodworking here and there when I take the dogs for a walk, and admittedly I always glance at the open garage doors to see if there are any other woodworkers around.

I try not to let anyone know what I do in my hood. Only the closest friends know I am set up for resto work. The reason is, theft. I have had 5 men at gunpoint, on the ground on my property, untill the deputies got here. Went to 5 separate court trials in 2 years. I don't want anymore uninvited people on my property. I now carry a .44 special concealed pistol on my shop premise, and lock EVERYTHING! This place is crime ridden big time. The wife and I are both liscenced to carry. Nope, I keep to myself about woodworking for a living. Especially in the immediate nieghborhood. Too easy to get broken into these days. jimsjinx

Being a postman I've found a lot of people on my route who have Shopsmith's. Either through deliveries to the garage, Parts to the door, or catalogs to the box. In fact I even redirected catalogs to people that had SS but weren't getting the catalog from people that had moved and the catalog would have to have been thrown away. Came in handy and got SS a some sales seeing as how the recipient didn't do the internet.

Today -- a New Wrinkle!

I got 2 postcards for Mark 7 Demo's coming here to Indy Lowes. One postcard for me. One postcard for the Previous Resident of this house. I guess this house is a true-blue Shopsmith house.

On Wednesday evening my son and I were doing a welding project in his garage workshop. We both looked up to see a Google beetle driving by. It was sporting a wild looking soccer shaped ball on the top. I'll bet a nickle they are driving every street as a new mapping project. I figure one day we will see our ugly mugs when we search his address. They actually drove by twice in opposite directions. Now that Surveillance. Jim

Other than wife's sister who lives on the adjoining 26 acres and is not a woodworker, our closest neighbor is 1/2 mile away.
I know that there are a couple wood workers in town (16 miles away) but don't know of any SS users anywhere close. If any are close. I'd like to meet them.

That's why I quit going out to pick up the newspaper in my PJ's.

Street view is an old mapping project... but they like to keep updating the images since things change over time. You should be on the lookout for new street view images in google maps (no idea how long it takes to process).

For example, maybe one day someone will build out this empty lot: http://goo.gl/maps/jaZG

And then they'll want future visitors to see it on street view.
