To Purchase or Not

Just looked at (2) mid-50's Shopsmiths. Asking price is $1050 for the pair. Don't need them, except my motor is in the shop and I need to move forward on a couple of projects this week. What is a reasonable price for this set?

Need a good degreasing and the bottom tubes need an electrolysis bath. Both run thru the speeds. They seem a little nosier than my '73-78 model. The '55 speed control is not as smooth as the '56. Both are missing the sanding disc, but the rest of the basic 5 in 1 set up seems to be there. The '56 has a joiner. The carriage for the saw table on the '56 has about a 1-1 1/2" crack in it in the side between the way tubes. Finish has nicks and scratches.

I attached a picture of the units that the guy had posted.

No way - thats way expensive. I paid 225 for two 56 greenies and a complete Mark VII. That was a stellar deal for me, but based on what I am seeing in that photo it would be like 300-500 for the pair at most. If there are SPTs or many accessories then maybe more.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll offer $300 on the '56 since it has the joiner and I need a working machine to keep a promise on a project this week. Then I can go over it and at least get my money back.
