Speed Increased Friction Disk

Hi all!

Have been lurking for a while and decided to join in with a question.

I have a speed increaser on my Mark V. There was a jam-up the other day that wore a groove in the friction disc. I could not find a parts list on the SS website. I sent SS an email, but they seem to be pretty busy lately, which I hope is a good thing. So I got the speed increaser going again by flipping the friction disk over to the other side, but want to have a couple spares on hand.

Does anyone know the P/N for the friction disk? Or maybe what could be used as a substitute? There are some 1/32 inch thick silicone rubber sheets that are available in different hardnesses. I may go that route.

It would seem that calling them would be the best thing to do. A quick search of their site brought up the fact that the speed increaser is a replacement part and that only the assembly can be replaced but calling them might produce better results. Their website really needs some help in my opinion. Very difficult to find things and many are not covered.

I got a response from SS. The P/N is 515913 and they have them in manufacturing and will transfer what I need to shipping. Apparently I should have looked the part up in the owner's manual instead of trying on the website.

If I knew the specs of the plastic/rubber I could probably get a piece and make my own, but I'd really rather throw some business to SS when I can.

10-4 I could not even read the owners manual as it isn't available on the site unless it is somewhere else I didn't find.

I looked for it on site also. It is one of many items the Shopsmith never chose to post on-line.
