The Sketch Up of my chevalet http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showpos ... tcount=193 is finished. I haven’t cluttered it with dimensions but they are all there to me measured in the 3D model. It’s my first venture into Sketch Up and it’s been an adventure. The chevalet took me forty hours to build. The Sketch Up took me 30. Be gentle with critiques please. (but do critique).

If you actually decide to build one please contact me and I will try to help you adjust the dimensions for your body size. I’m 6’4” so if you build to my final dimensions you best be big. I also have lots of pictures that I can share to help you visualize some of the details. I will update the Sketch Up as I make modifications and adjustments to mine.

When you finish your new Chevalet de Marqueterie, be sure to look into the classes offered at The American School of French Marquetry by marquetry master Patrick Edwards.

Thank you for posting this design. It's great! It looks as good in sketchup as it does on the video. You shouldn't worry about dimensioning either, since the plans are free. Some "sweat equity " is fair, since it's so easy to use the tape measure tool.
I have a suggestion to make it easier for you to edit later on though. It's a good practice to make each piece and component it's own group. I started to do a little editing until I realized that you didn't group each piece.

Patrick is the foremost authority and practitioner of French marquetry in the US. I have had the privilege of attending his American School of French Marquetry for both level one and two courses. It is an amazing experience. Just as a taste of what you can learn there, here's one of the two studies we completed in the week long level two course last month.
