Power Pro DIY

I was just checking out the SS Power Pro DIY kit as i got the email that they are now ready to ship immediately. Has anyone done the DIY yet? My question is how do they power the intermediate shaft without the sheaves in the picture anymore? I got a picture of all the parts in the email but couldn't make out the small shaft in the picture which i assume is the part that is used to power the intermediate shaft?
In any event what an accomplishment that upgrade is for SS. It really brings them into the 21st. century and the motor looks like a serious piece of machinery indeed. The whole fact that there are no more sheaves to worry about is almost worth the price of admission. But the price is definitely not cheap almost $1500 for the DIY kit. I wonder if that motor is made of gold or something?????:D

Oh, Yes! I have posted several (maybe 10) posts, telling about my experiences with the PowerPro DIY changeover. I had very interesting experiences. You can read all that, if you wish. After using it for well over 50 hours, I dearly LOVE my PowerPro!!!!
Now I will answer your question --- The short shaft you see in the picture
IS the intermediate shaft in its entirety!!
The intermediate shaft (the one that runs the jointer) is a short shaft. I'm guessing it is only 6 or 7 inches long. It is mounted only in the eccentric. It is held in the eccentric by two bearings. There is a poly-v-belt between the motor and the intermediate shaft and another Poly-v-belt between the intermediate shaft and the spindle shaft.
The motor isn't made of gold, but it weighs about the same as if it were.

Thanks Charlese that is what I thought. You think it was well worth the cost then?

Absolutely!!!!:D It only took a short while to get over the cost thing!
