Do any common stores carry insulating varnish? I don't see it in the Home Depot online catalog.

There is a Grainger in town, and some electrical supply stores, but none nearby - I was hoping to pick it up without a long drive.

I am not having any success finding it either!:( Bill Mayo uses hi-temp engine paint. Formvar is good to 105c which is over 221F.

This is the insulating varnish that I am using lately. I had to buy a dozen cans as a minimum order and got a good price. I spray the motor coils on every motor I rebuild. I have been unable to remove any run or start coil windings shorts to ground. I have tried to pressure washer the burnt windings, let dry and spray the insulating varnish on the coil windings without any success. I find that once the coil windings have shorted to ground, I am unable to save the motor. I would always be interested if anyone has been able to remove any short in the run or start windings,

Try Allied Electronics. They have red formvar in 2 oz. containers for about $9.75. Not cheap but it usually goes a long way.

Thank You for that link!!! With sipping cheaper than Grainger!!! And I do not have to drive across town....... Just wait a few!:)
