Cutting chamfers on table saw
The patio table I'm building called for 1/2" chamfers to be cut on the ends of the table rails. I tilted the table and set up for cutting the chamfers, but was scratching my head on how to make a fence to hold the 40 and 46 inch rails to make the cuts. What I came up with was not a fence at all. I added a floating table extension to the left side of the table to support the board and clamped my adjustable square on the bottom of the board with the metal ruler riding against the edge of the table and made the cut. It worked great! It just shows that if you put a little thought into a problem it can be solved without a lot of extra work.
