This arbor was in a box of stuff I got at an estate auction. I though it was a Shopsmith grinding wheel arbor, but it won't fit on the Mark V spindle. I think it's for a 1/2" shaft. Were any shopsmiths made with a 1/2" spindle? Mark II perhaps?

It appears to be a motor arbor. These are very popular for adding a wheel (buffing, etc.) to an electric motor with a 1/2" shaft. The 5/8" bore is often seen with Shopsmiths and is also a popular motor shaft size. Care has to be taken on using the proper arbor depending on shaft rotation. Right hand threaded arbors should be used on shafts that rotate counter clockwise. Left hand threaded arbors on shafts that rotate clockwise. This way the rotation of the shaft tends to tighten the nut.
