I'm looking for a source for an TS blade arbor that will allow me to use standard 5/8" blades. SS store has em for about $30 but there has to be something you guys/gals use that's not so pricey(nothing on ebay thats much cheaper).

thanks in advance for any info,

Brian

Calstar;
The 5/8 inch blade arbors are a rare item even on E-Bay. My suggestion is to bite the bullet or wait until SS has them on sale. There are certain considerations that may make using a non SS arbor a dangerous condition. You may want to call SS customer service and see if they know of any upcoming sales. I have seen 5/8 arbors go on E-Bay for almost as much as SS sells them for.

I was just on the SS website ordering a part and noticed that the price for a new arbor for any model is $31.99. I also saw one on E-Bay for $31.75. Is buying old to save two bits worth the risk?

The one from SS is pricey but is very nicely made and will fit and work properly and clear the guards etc. If I used my SS's more for a tablesaw I would want several but for my needs I can get along fine with just one and several of the 1-1/4" ones.
If you are good friends with a machinist you might buy one then get him to make you some extras (for something like bear and pretzels). but if you have to pay regular rates for machining I doubt that you could have one duplicated for SS's price. :eek:
I have the equipment and am a fair machinist but I wouldn't bother to make them. I would buy them from SS... :cool:
Another option often mentioned here is getting a saw-shop to punch the hole on vendor blades to 1-1/4".
