Thought I'd share this story: This weekend a fellow woodworking buddy scored a dozen unused Olsen woodworking bandsaw blades that his wife got for him at a yard sale (All but two still in the original packaging). His wife remembered that his saw took that size (now that's a wife!). Anyway, the seller warned her that the blades were manufactured wrong and that the teeth were ground "upside-down". She bought them anyway, all for $10!

When my friend got them, he found the teeth were oriented correctly - except for the two already removed from the packaging. The guy was flipping them inside out when he was unwinding/removing them from the original packaging! My guess is that they were probably "borrowed" from some business/workplace.

A very smart wife, you got there, Gunner. Great score. (On the wife and the blades.)

ShopSmith almost got an angry call when, after installing it, I found that the blade had been improperly manufactured with the teeth going the wrong way.
There was no one else in the shop but, I can tell you I was abashed, embarrassed, and even disconcerted, when the solution became obvious.
When I think about it now, I have to laugh at how the nice lady at SS might have reacted to that call.

No problemo if you have a Power Pro. Just run it in reverse!!!!

I did the same thing recently. I got several blades with my SS Bandsaw and one of them is an 1/8" which I wanted to use for making a bandsaw box but the teeth were "backwards"? So I was at my buddies the other day in his woodshop and I mentioned the blade and he says to me could it be inside out? I had never thought of that. So we took a blade of his and sure enough they could be turned inside out. Stupid me! But then I taught him how to roll up the blades for storage and he was pretty excited because he had never been able to figure it out. So one good turn deserves another and we were even steven.................

Do you give lessons on blade coiling. I sure could use one.

Glad I posted this story - perhaps someone having this same problem will find his solution here! I second the motion on a quick guide to properly coiling a blade. My blades just hang on a nail in the shop, and it would be nice to store them more compactly at times.

Step one - Get a good pair of leather gloves!

Step two - Practice rotating your wrists in opposite direction.(180°)

Step three - Do it with a blade!

Good Luck! Long arms recommended.
