I'm new to the forum but long time user of Shopsmith from days gone by. Had a 510 that my X decided she wanted to keep about 10 years ago. Now, I'm getting back in to it and have my eye on a new Mark 7 to save space in my new home. Can't find much information on it though in terms of reviews by users anywhere. Probably looking in the wrong places. Also am curious, can I use a Freud 8" dado set on the Mark 7 or must the 6" only be used? Appreciate your feedback. Quaz

All who have acquired a power pro headstock are very satisfied. The Mark 7 includes the power pro headstock and 'tilts' both ways. If purchasing a new ss the 7 is a no-brainer decision.
Yes 8" dado blades are compatible.

Thank you for the prompt reply and the heads-up on the dado.

I'm about to upgrade my 520 to Mk7. The main reason for using the 6" dado on the Shopsmith, or as a matter of fact, any table saw designed to run on a std. household 15 amp circuit, is torque. The 6" dado offers more torque at the teeth than a 8" set. Inadequate torque could be a problem when cutting wide and deep dados.
The Power Pro however has ample torque to cut dados with an 8" set.

Great advice 8iowa. Good luck with your 7. Can't wait to get mine.
Cheers!
