Yep I'm pretty sure he thought he was partially scalped. :D I couldn't stop laughng while watching it. Not nice I know, I couldn't help it. Side grinder in the kitchen, long hair, obviously inexperianced user, what could possibly go wrong?

ouch.

Glad the video wasn't graphic, just funny. Being in the safety field, I saw a picture of a hooded sweat shirt and a grinder about 3 years ago. The grinder didn't have a wire wheel on it like this one but a cut off wheel. The sweat shirt had the hood strings hanging out and one got caught up in in the grinder. It took the cut off wheel across the guys face from chin through cheek to forehead. the sweatshirt started out grey but was more red than grey in the photo. Luckily the guy lived but several hundred stitches later, he isn't looking so great.

I never operate those things with anything dangling, necklace, strings, bandana, hair. Just too easy to have something go wrong.

Several years ago there was a series of pictures in a national farm magazine of a guy getting his Tee shirt caught in a PTO shaft on a post hole auger. He was being interviewed and was standing on the other side of the hole digger from the photographer. The camera guy was using the camera's auto function and it was shooting frame after frame after frame machine gun fashion. It showed the guy's Tee shirt flap out in the breeze and the spinning shaft grab it. The guy was super lucky in that his shirt ripped off of him instead of pulling him in. It happened so fast that in the last picture his shirt was wrapped around the shaft and he was standing there shirtless still talking since he was not yet aware that it had happened...
I have always remembered that one since I saved it and showed it to a non farmer neighbor who had just bought a new post hole auger for his tractor. He was not very familiar with such things and I always worried about him.

That was funny.:D Wonder why he didn't shut it off before he laid it down. But then, if he thought hair that long around machinery was ok, I guess not shutting the grinder off was ok, too.
