Safety gear

I saw an ad the other day for some hard hats with integrated face shield and ear muffs. The ad said they had a lot of them from a construction job that never happened. All of them were new in the box. So I thought getting one would be good for the shop as it has hearing and face protection all in one unit plus the hard hat and a chin strap which i am sure isn't a bad thing to have. So I contacted the guy and we made plans to meet today after work. I purchased one hard hat for $30.00 and I am pretty pleased with it. The only downside is that it has a mesh face shield instead of a clear polycarbonate shield. They ordered mesh because the guys on another job were complaining about the poly shield fogging up in the winter time. I looked up online and i can get a clear shield for about $3-6.00 so no biggie. The guy said he has about 70 of these things to get rid of and asked me if I knew anyone that would want one to let him know. So I figured i would post up a note to tell anyone who might be interested in getting one of these let me know.

These are worn by loggers when using a chain saw. Very handy when felling a tree; not so much when in the shop.

Agreed they are not specifically for in the shop but i like the built in hearing protection and once I get a clear poly face shield it will be very convenient to have it close by. I am forever looking for my safety glasses and hearing protection after taking it off and leaving it laying somewhere not close by. It is very comfortable as well. The other thing is my safety glasses are always getting fogged up and dirty, with a face shield instead i am hoping that won't be such a problem.

In that setup looks to be a loggers hat. Here is a Harbor Freight "Like item" without the helmet.
