What doee the UL plate say on a Mark 7

I want to know the current at 220 Volts. Did anyone who did the DIY upgrade find a UL sticker anywhere? I don't see one on the motor or anywhere else.

I found a someone to install a 220 volt circuit and converter for $125.

Now that is much more reasonable!!!!!:cool:

I am sure it is less than 15A at 120v. Since it has a switching power supply it is difficult to predict current draw at different input voltages. Most noteworthy is the minimal startup surge.

It will be simpler to add a 20A circuit - 2 pole 15A breakers are rare.

The electrician quoted either 15A or 20A at the same price but he wanted the data from the UL label.

The picture of the Mark 7 and PowerPro headstock show a UL sticker but the DIY upgrade has a blank gray label in the same space.

The specs on the SS website say 15A at 120v. At 220v the amperage would be less (approximately half). So a 15A circuit would be more than adequate, but if its the same money go for the 20A. This way you have the extra amperage when they come out with the 5hp PowerPro.

Just make sure that you understand: Extra amperage (surplus to the rating of the item being protected) is NOT a plus. It means that more current can be drawn than is intended, i.e. less protection.:eek:

With a typical dual voltage induction motor - yes.

A Mark 7 has the dvr motor.

Dusty is correct, but I would opt for the 20A at the same cost.

The electrical panel breaker is not intended to protect a portable(pluggable) device, but rather the structure wiring to the receptacle.

If you desire overcurrent protection for a pluggable device, get a 15A power strip. IMHO a prudent though unnecessary effort. Most of the time breaker tripping is the result of more catastrophic load conditions(unless too many devices are run off that circuit).

The electrician will recommend a 20A branch circuit for a 15A rated appliance. Since this will be a dedicated branch circuit IIRC the appliance should not be rated more than 80% of the branch circuit capacity.

The Power Pro is an unusual appliance due to its extremely variable power consumption characteristics. I doubt it averages more than half the 15A except under extreme load conditions(ripping 4" 100 yr old pine heartwood).;)

No one has answered the simple question, what does the UL Label actually say.

I doubt a UL tag would say anything different.

We be assuming it has one! I have never seen one! CSA but no UL!

Gotta have a Power Pro to look!

I do not think a new vent plate is included in an upgrade!

I have the upgrade and it has nothing.

What is a CSA?
