caster alignment

I came into ownership of a SS proplaner circa 1984. I was given a pair of casters as well in the bargain. However, the foot pedal doesn't clear the leg. Is there some way to move the pedal in order to clear the stand leg?

When I mounted casters on my pro planer stand, I needed to add spacers between the casters and the legs. I also do not have any interference between the pedal and the legs. Now I am wondering if the legs on my stand are spread out more than intended.
Anyway, you can move the pedal on the caster cam shaft. That would require drilling a new hole in the desired position. If you don't want to drill, you might try to loosen the hardware on the legs and braces to see if you can spread the legs out a little. Then you can make up the distance with spacers. I have used washers and nuts as spacers when I did not have the plastic ones from Shopsmith. Obviously, you would want to put spacers on the pedal side of the casters first.

Older casters have the foot pedal out close to the end of the shaft(5/8" between cam and footpedal). This works ok with a M5/V/7, but is too close for other stands. Current casters have the foot pedal moved in from the end(2" between cam and foot pedal). As Rob has said, the planer stand requires spacers(1/2" IIRC) and longer screws.
