MKVll Motor

I have not ever had a motor problem with any of my MKV's. I picked up a MKVll and it belonged to an older gentleman and set for sometime. I did run it before I purchased it but did not want to run it too much before I serviced it. It runs forward and reverse. Yesterday I was starting to clean it up and blew it out to get most of the saw dust out. I ran it forward and reverse and ran it through its speed.
I oiled the two locations that it called for and when I went to start it again it only will start in reverse. When I tried to go forward it hum's like it is trying to start but will not start moving even if I spin it. Before I do some harm to the motor does anyone have any suggestions where I should start next. This machine is in really good shape except for setting, even the dreaded MKVll cam looks brand new I appreciate any help you might give me

Power switch most likely. The switch also controls the start direction. I am assuming the 'original' switch.

Looking for a thread that explained the switch function. . . .
