MT2 drive side with vacuum support?

Post by damagi »

Just curious if anyone has tried to take an older style lathe's drive side (something like http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/tls/2530915139.html) and use the shopsmith motoro to drive it. In doing so, you could get a MT2 drive side that had a through hole for things like a vacuum chuck.

An interesting side effect would be that if you put the new drive sleve above the old one (perhaps using a sprocket and chain drive, or pulley setup) you could probably use the existing tailstock as is.

Eh, its a thought...
