Storage box design

Please offer some suggestions for the design of a storage box.
There is unused space under my workbench: 33" wide, 36" deep, 24 1/2" tall. I'm considering stacking two boxes, maybe dividing them in half (16" wide instead of 33"), and maybe dividing one into two (6" and 18" tall).
I don't think drawers would work because of the 36" depth. The entire assembly will be on casters for access so the box can be used as a workspace.
First question: is 1/2" plywood strong enough, or should I use 3/4"?
Second question: any other design ideas?

If your bench is going to be on rollers, why not have drawers in your cabinet? You could have drawers (say 16" deep) on both sides. You could have drawers on one side, storage cabinets on the other. Or any combination you can imagine.

I hadn't thought of drawers on each side: good idea.
Would 1/2" plywood be OK? Should I use 3/4"?

It depends upon WHAT your going to put in them. But 1/2 should work out pretty well.
