Sounds similar to the feed motor project for the ProPlaner that I've posted. I don't have a 10'er but it can't be that different.

You may be able to draft off of what I've done, but I need some specs:
1) what the HP rating you need?
2) do you want it to run off of 110v or 220v or both?
3) what is the physical link from the dc motor to the 10'er? I assume you are talking about a dc gear motor.

There are some really good options out there for controllers and motors from the surplus market. On the treadmill motor - I would suspect that most will be too light for your use.

There are a number of folks over on the Yahoo 10ER users group that have done it. Note the setup on the 10ER on the home page. The moderator, Skip Campbell, used to have some parts and complete setups. I keep waiting to find an old treadmill to re-purpose.;)
