Although the below link features the new Bessey toggle clamp, in general, the video is worth watching and presents some good ideas. I submit this also because there is a Shopsmith involved at approximately the 9:08 mark. I'm always amused where a SS may turn up and who may be using them professionally. Enjoy!

Those look like they will fit right in next years budget, got to say from the video I think I love them.

To bad he did not take advantage of the shopsmith rather then the table saw he used. He could have swapped out the saw blade for a disk sander and did the sanding without much of a change over. Oh well maybe he didn't know better just like sticking his fingers in by the blade to pick the small piece of wood out. ZCI would have kept that from happening...

Yep! I agree with every one of your observations. This proves a point about some(many) professional woodworkers. They are so into newer power tools, they cannot see (understand/ envision) doing woodworking without the particular tool they favor. He would have done himself a favor to stick with talking about the clamp, rather than trying to show expertise at sawing and smoothing. Also, as he said in the video - He doesn't know much about lathe working.

What really surprised me is he said that lathe turning is teaching him about wood grain. Tisk, Tisk!! My goodness - he must have learned woodworking in a plastic factory.

If you got the new Sept Lee Valley catalog with (all the drills on the front cover) look at page 3, the clamps are shown. Maybe doing a little shopping would find a cheaper price. Now I think I need 4 of them just for new things I've thought about...

As a side point, I love these catalogs, can't afford much any more but I still like have a catalog in hand and paging through it. I know a lot of places have done away with the printed versions which I will never forgive them... Most places that don't have paper catalogs are no longer on my list of places to order from.

Anyway no TV tonight I've got a catalog to look at.

Ashbury - Thanks for posting that link. I enjoyed the review and seeing how he used his sliding miter saw.
