As a seller and a buyer, I want to say one thing to you folks looking for ShopSmith stuff on Ebay..........
Check with ShopSmith First. I often see stuff get bid way over what shopsmith charges for new.
Do your homework first.

Exactly! If the bid gets over 50% of what I can get it new from Shopsmith, I give my business to Shopsmith. Some of those who are bidding are very uneducated and I won't bid against them. eBay should be only to save money, else you are tossing money.

Depending on the 'condition', half may be too much.
I wonder if most of those high bidders are aware that ss is still 'alive'?

I hope they find out. But I'm selling some stuff on eBay right now to build my shop fund so I hope they find out after paying too much for my stuff!

I am selling a bunch of lathe stuff so I can buy the new Nova center from Shopsmith. 80% of the time I get more than I paid for it new (not my job to educate eBay buyers) but the stuff I sell is usually almost as good as new.

I'm all about "caveat emptor"
No one twists my customers arms, they pay what they want to pay.
This was just a reminder to our "brethren" here on the forum to pay attention.

Although with eBay you get it pretty much right away, while with SS sometimes it takes weeks

I hang with a lot of car guys. They sell parts on e-bay. They don't seem as thrilled with the bay as they use to. I never do the bay so not sure what it's all about.
I know they have safeguards but find it funny that people will see something for sale that may only be a photo taken off the net by a 16 yo kid killing time in his parents basement. Never met the guy that lives 6 states away and send him money in hopes of getting something in return.
