ProPlanner Upgrade Project Documentation - 90%

Got a block of free time so here's the latest update. The intent of this update is to get your feedback on the documentation. Please give your comments on clarity, completeness, errors, etc. to make this documentation and project better for everyone.
Please use discretion in proceeding. Until I get everything tested there could easily be changes to make things work right. I'm anticipating about three weeks to get testing and calibration done and to wrap up the documentation.
Here's the link to the documentation ==>

I've only had a few people give feedback - so I'm going to change the way I update

There have only been a few diehards that have followed this project and given me feedback and suggestions. So until things are tested and proper operation is verified I'm going to limit distribution to only those folks.
When things are finished the document will opened up to all. This just makes it easier for me: I can work on specific sections and bounce ideas off of people to save me time rather than making sure the entire document is up to speed each time I post.
Regards,
Mark

Incredible, from a basic controller to all singing all dancing controller with more power ( if I buy the bigger motor ). Thanks for sharing. I think I have to read your writeup to determine if I even have the required skills to proceed.
Thank you for posting.

Hi Mark,
I need to either rebuild the my Pro Planer control box or buy a replacement one. I've worked through the PDF file that you posted on the modifications you have done. I would like to provide you some feed back and see if you have any new information regarding the control.
Please e-mail me as
DanCottrill@raodrunner.com
or respond to the message forum e-mail.
Thank You,
Dan

I have read through your presentation and it is very well done. As for comments, there is not much that can be said. You have done a great job. Fortunately, I have not had a need. I have two controllers and they bothy function well. Hopefully they will continue that way.
General Comment: I hardly ever change feed rate.
PS: Sorry, I posted this in the wrong place but I'm not going to change it.

I don't own a SS planer and never have. I have been following along but I have no knowledge in this area so I try to stick a cork in my pie-hole and just read hoping to glean something from it.
I suspect that a lot of folks are following that have nothing fresh to contribute.

HI Mark,
After reading though the write up again and this time put together a schematic I understand now how it's working. Attached is a the schematic that I've put together. I would appreciate it if you would confirm that this is how its all wired up.
Next I'm going to try to build one up. Not sure if I will do the motor conversion, and I'm pondering the upgrade to a 220 AC motor.
The circuit breaker in the ShopSmith Control box do you know who in the manufacture or are there any part numbers on it that I could used to search for one?
If you have a picture of the DC Motor Speed Control Box installed I would appreciate it if you could post it.
Did you consider mounting the potentiometer in the same box as the DC motor speed control?
That would reduce the run on the potentiometer control wires.
Thank You,
Dan

When an effort is as exemplary as this there really is not much to 'add' or critique.
I surmise that it is also somewhat an out of their comfort zone experience for most.
It is the melding of those two observations that will create more interest.
My own interest is that I am contemplating converting my handcrank feed version.
This effort is not inexpensive even using used parts, but IMHO is a great improvement over the SS issue(although still much less $$$).
I also surmise he is taking it on a shake down cruise prior to 'completing' the existing documentation.
Some encouragement will hopefully help him decide to make the effort!

Kudos on the schematic! Well done! What did ya use to draw it?
