Walk out into your wood-shop and imagine that someone was giving you $1500 with only one string attached. You had to spend it all on your wood-shop... How would you spend it?
More space? More machinery? More hand tools? New floor? Heating system? Bathroom? Wood?
Just remember you don't have to spend it all on one thing, just all on the wood-shop...
What are your needs? Really wants? Wishes?

Interesting question.

Not enough $$$$$$$:D

Unlike some, I am not going to turn it down because it is not enough $$$$$.

If you had offered an adequate amount of money, I would take some of everything. Since there is a limit - I will just have to get reasonable and say I will probably spend it all in one place.

I may have to add some money to it but I'm going for a factory built PowerPro headstock and a left tilt modification kit.

The rest of the items on the list I will just have to either justify before I place the order or explain after the items arrive.

I would also like an epoxy floor and much better over head lighting.

If I could find a way without hanging hoses overhead, I would like a way to install dust collector hoses so that there is NO RISK of stepping on them or tripping over them.

While you are at it, bring me another sheet of 1" mdf (really I would like a sheet of MDO) for my bench top. I'll try to find a good use for the cut offs.

That is about all except I do need new forstner bits. A complete set and with the PowerPro I might as well have some of the larger sizes. Up until now, there was no need.

That's about all. More and I might start feeling greedy.

Seriously, I would definitely do the same!:)

Make mine a DIY conversion. I would put it in an "A" casting.

PS If you come up with another $1500 I would like to solve my clamp problem once and for all. I'll spend the entire amount on an assortment of clamps. I might even have to throw in some mad money to augment that figure.

I would invest the $1500 in a woodworking CD or money market account. Because with today's financial picture $1500 might be that much more food you could buy if things go really bad.

If our economy was better, I would probably be torn between are really nice bandsaw and a really nice guided tool system (Festool or Easy guide).

Although I would could almost justify some really nice hand tools with a fantastic sharpening system. Nothing is better in life than the peace and satisfaction that comes when a really nice, really sharp hand tool carves it's way through precious wood to make something wonderful.

To tell the truth, with only $1500, I'd probably get some better bench chisels, lathe tools and hand planes.

Now If the money fairy would give me like $20,000, I'd seriously look into one of those Euro multipurpose machines like a Felder - and also a computer operated routing machine (can't presently think of what they are called).

My theory is - "If I die with a nickel in my pocket, I haven't spent life to it's fullest." After dead, won't really care what happens to any estate things.

You just forfeited your $1500, Ed. The original premise was that you had to spend it on your "wood shop". Sorry.

If I had to burn $1,500 I would consider a CNC routing system but that might only cover the deposit.

Tops on my wish list would be an 8" spiral head jointer. I think $1500 would cover the cost and shipping. I think this would be a great addition to my Proplaner.
