Don't need to spend $10 for such plans. All it takes is a short study of the digital resources Shopsmith has already given us. (check out the drop down menus from the main Shopsmith owners web page. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/

Here is a thread from April of last year about making toy logs. http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showthread.htm?t=7622&highlight=lincoln+logs

Here are the free plans from a hands-On-Line issue http://www.shopsmithhandson.com/archives/july_aug_01/html/moneymakerproj/interlockinglogs.htm
Note that the H-O-L article shows using smaller roundover router bit to make more square logs, like tdubnik did.

Here is the source for available Hands-On Line issues. http://www.shopsmithhandson.com/issue_archives.htm

My recollection re colors:

Logs - Brown
Roofing - Green
Chimney - yellow
Gables - Red
??????? - Orange Flat planks as I recall like roofing.

Lincoln Logs were basically dowels, another brand squarish with dimples to resemble bark.

Did you make half logs(flat on one side)? Never mind, I see some in the pix.

The ends tend to split and small pieces separate at the notch. I wonder if CA would help prevent that.

P.S. The ridge cap must have come after 'my time'!

Simply incredible sir! Toys are played with and discarded. There should be more value placed on this kind of effort with things for our kids and grandkids. IN:eek: credible job,
Plans are $10...did anyone count hours here?

This reminds me of a set of blocks we kids had growing up. Made by my grandfather for us kids. We called them the "Rainy Day Blocks" as we were only allowed to play them on rainy days when we could not play outside. Now I know this rule was put in place to preserve those toys and show them the respect and care that they deserved since my Grandfather worked so hard on them. All of the blocks stacked nicely in nice hard wood box that was stored in the hall closet.

Wrong! Plans are free for the downloading - see above.

Among other things, I never-never count hours of work.

I used the FREE Shopsmith plans referenced above for the logs, the box plans don't exist except in my head and the hours are priceless.

I quit my job about 10 or 11 years ago and this kind of stuff keeps me sane and out of my wife's hair.
