Lumberlok not ready for a review yet

Seems that I will have to borrow some extra time from someone to get all the things done that I want to do yet this year.

This is one of those things that seem to be slipping by far to fast and since this item happens to be on sale for a few more days I wanted to let you know about it just in case you want to give it a try.... and maybe review it?

What is it?

Let's start with a picture:

Rather the me trying to tell you about it how about I link you to a site with a description and a video of the product.

http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... 3&pn=42263

Keep in mind the one I have looks a bit different then the one at Rockler but I think they are more then likely the same thing...

Now if you like what you saw and if you live in range of a Menards store you have until Nov. 20 to get your self over there and pick one up for not $25, no not even $20 or for that matter even $15, but for the low price of just $14.99.

Now I can't promise I'm going to love it, or if you will, but if you have been thinking about one of these this certainly seems like a cheaper starting point then I have seen. No I didn't check HF for one or price because I was in the Menards store already... but I did a web search several days ago and did not find a source this cheap then.

That looks very handy, thanks for the post. I have never seen one of those before. I will be looking at my local Menard's tomorrow.

Such a simple design, makes you wish you'd come up with it yourself.

I'd be interested to see what you think of it after you've had it for a while. One the one hand, I like it and think it's clever and usefull. On the other hand, I wonder if it's really any better than having the board standing on a handy chunk of wood or rock.

I think that the added stability due to the wedging and the square bottom is a benefit. I think it would be more effective with larger thicknesses because of the added weight.

Now available at Lowes, in two different forms. $19.99 or $29.99, forget which.

Found them there while wandering through the tool isles admiring things.

There have been times when having one of these would have been a lifesaver but those times are few and far between. For me the Lumberlok would be like so many other gadgets - if I bought one it would soon disappear into the clutter under my work bench.

I wondered where you kept 'it'!:D

Yea, I didn't bring it home with me. I held it, admired it, pondered it, and left it there.

Maybe if I was a framer. But even then, I've always got a scrap of wood or such to set a board on for cutting. There is also always the bed of the truck.

There was a second model as well. Triangular, that is for pipes, conduit, tracks and angle iron, etc. But, pretty much the same story. Tried to convince myself of a need for it, but I couldn't succeed.

I am sure you have noticed that there are no photo images that detail anything in my shop from that direction. I don't even know what all is back there.

Example: I am missing a set of four casters that I used to use to move the exercise bike and a few other heavy items. I have not seen those in a year or two. They might be in that black hole.

While you are back there, see if you can find the caster 'u clips' and tension pins that have been hiding from me the past month or two.
