Old bad habits

Post by mbcabinetmaker »

I'm sorry I haven't been on in a few months. A computer crash back in the spring followed by a new motorcycle (well new to me) then a bad storm with lots of property damage and my bad  habit of this form became a back burner issue. But with winter coming on I have my priorities back in order.:D ;)

I have made a few changes to the shop this summer. I bought a new Mini Max CU300 Smart European combination machine. Sold off a planer, jointer, chisel mortiser, 3 Shopsmiths and quite a bit of smaller accessories and things. Here are some pictures of the new machine. It is a 12 inch sliding table saw with a scoring blade, 1 1/4 inch shaper, 12 inch jointer and planer and has a slot mortising attachment.

So in the words of Bob Dylan I have already apologized so no need to apologize again. ;)

GREAT to see ya back Mark. NICE looking machine, but it looks like it take up as much room as three SS, but less than what it replaces.
So how did that floor rebuild from early last spring go?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Glad to learn the sell off of mini on e-bay was not desperation move. Was concerned about that!

Obviously you were not in financial difficulties.

Will be interesting if this new multi-function tool will be as good as 'stand-alone' tools.:D

Looks pretty durn adequate to me!;)

Motor(s) dual frequency?????

I have had it up and running for about 2 months now. I could not be more pleased. I had looked at several and purchased the Mini Max mainly because I liked that the jointer beds raise toward the table saw as all the others raise toward the mortiser. You can check out the machine here. http://www.minimax-usa.com/index.php?pa ... &Itemid=35 Click on the Features button for additional information. It has 3 separate 4.8 HP motors.

Don't worry though my 520 is still in daily use as is a 510 mini. That will never change. I still plan to upgrade to the Power Pro at some point. Now that I have settled on what I call my Shopsmith wall I have a few changes in mind and will flip flop the storage benches. I am working on a wall hung organizer. Just need to take it back down and do a little finish work.

Off to the Dentist and then on to finish a cabinet installation today.:)

Superb shop and great tools. Yes, I'm just a bit green. From envy, of course. :p
