Hello all,

I am trying to determine a fair selling price for my Dad's Shopsmith I inherited. I have a Mark V (late '70s 1-1/8 hp), table saw attachment, jointer, bandsaw, lathe and tools, drum and disk sander, router/ shaper and original manuals/ tutorial paperwork.

Everything is in great shape and works fine. I hate to get rid of it because my dad loved it, but i need the room.

I figured I would post it on Craigslist soon but I didn't want to put up an outrageous price and not get any hits.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
CB

Btw, I am also selling a a mini-lathe with all kinds of pen making accessories/ blanks and a homemade mobile stand with full length drawers. Plus a full size joiner on mobile base that has never been used and a HF dust collector that also has never been used.

A fair price generally depends on condition of equipment, accessories, and location. You could check Craigslist in your area for some ballpark figures. You can also use http://www.searchtempest.com , entering your zip and a distance figure to search multiple Craigslists around the zip. Use both "shopsmith" and "shop smith" as terms for your searches as sellers list them both ways on Craigslist.

Along with condition of equipment for sale there is another factor for pricing. It's the same as in selling a home... Location, Location, Location. Some areas are better for selling Shopsmith than others. Where are you located?

I'm in the Annapolis, MD area.

I threw the jointer on Craigslist a couple hours ago and it has already sold. And I have already had a few calls on the dc. I haven't put the SS on there yet. Maybe 'tis the season.

Seems to be the season to sell SS in that area. 10 (TEN) already on CL. I would wait!
