This thread is dedicated to all those little improvement projects around the shop that we keep putting off. They can be as simple as hanging something up or as complicated as you would like. Please post them in this thread along with pictures as a way to both inspire others and to share Ideas.



I will start.


My recent problem is a self inflicted one. I decided to sell my pneumatic clamp table as a space saving part of my recent shop reset. I needed a better way of clamping my doors together on my bench. I have some older Bessy clamps mounted on boards that I can quickly clamp to my bench but I needed something a litte heaver. These new clamps have about 1/3 more clamping pressue and I need to beef up the mounting boards.

I find that I actually prefer this over the clamp table.
Now I just need to make a convient space to hang them when not in use. Guess that will be my next post here.

That looks rock solid. And nice doors!

The end of my plywood rack proved to be good place to hang both sets of Besseys.

OK looks like I am the only one with shop improvement projects right now.

I have always regretted not making my workbench mobile when I built it. Thanks to a Rockler e-mail I decided to order 2 sets of these. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... 20Products
I do not believe one set would work with my heavy bench. Brown delivered them yesterday.

Anyone want to take a guess at how much this thing weighs.

Too Much! Too Much without the tools etc. 3-400# with?

Based on my estimate of your bench weight here is the type wheel I believe you need on it.

Oh my I did not realize this was a general shop improvements thread until too late. Oh well I'll just repost my tablesaw outfeed table mash up here. I have a few more upgrades recently completed to show as soon as I get the pictures taken.

Eagerly awaiting your results on the bench casters. I saw the same ad and would like to get the bench rolling.

Mark I'm a little confused about the boards you mount the clamps on. What do they do for you?
