I had seen this awhile ago. Sure makes you think.

The US was a world leader because of our productivity and inventiveness.
Today we invent very little and produce even less.

As a boy I was taught to be hard working and accomplish something I was proud of.
Today it seems kids are taught to figure a way to get rich quick and live the good life.

As a boy a man was described by his family, "Oh you know Joe Smith he has the wonderful wife Sue and those three boys that are always playing ball."

Then it became "Oh know Joe Smith he is the president of the High interest low dividend bank."

Today it is "Oh you know Joe Smith he has the big house on Elm street and drives the Rolls."

Tomorrow it will be, "Oh you know Joe Smith he lost his job, his house and they have him in retraining camp because he can't learn to speak Mandrin."

And humans will become unnecessary even for menial jobs...

The background noise gives one a headache.

I'm too danged old to keep up, therefore, the hum of the SS and the smell of fresh dust gives me more purpose than taking care of a wife who is totally dependent on me for everything. Older child about to graduate from law school and uses a cell phone for her library. Her husband graduated with a masters in anethesiology and uses his cell phone for his library to see how drugs interact with what the patient is taking.

Younger child manager at McDonald's. Hates his job, but puts food on the family plates, clothes on their backs and maintenance of his two automobiles. He would go to college if he had time. Maybe, when his children get out of high school. If we last that long!!!

Dusty, I have seen this one before, and I always used this kind of data when I was teaching and principal. I always took the data about information and technology, as a way to encourage kids and teachers to be sure that they focused not only on the specific material to be taught, but also on the skills of learning. I believed that at the high school level, the basic curriculum is fairly constant and needs to be mastered. It is needed to understand and use all of the " new" information available. What requires a more creative approach is the data on jobs and technology. Our kids have to be able to learn new info in the future. This is often not just learning totally new info, but adjusting how you use the info you have and how you integrate new info and technology.
All that said, the only thing that has changed is the speed at which change happens.

Totally unrelated question! What is the significance of your avatar change?

My oldest grand daughter got married last summer to an Army dude. I give him a lot of grief for not joining the Air Force.

Yesterday he deployed on a one year tour of duty to Afghanistan. He is a member of the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division.

The avatar is the Brigade emblem.

I knew the 25th Division patch, just wondered if you had re-upped!:D
