Yep, my newly acquired Mark VII has a ghost which increases the speed dial (and the respective speed) slowly to the highest speed setting as the unit runs. Other than an exorcism, how can I get this to not happen, It is a serious safety issue as you imagine. Seems like something is worn or needs to be tightened?

Any ideas?

I've not gotten around to fixing this problem on my Mark VII. Right now there's a wooden wedge between the casting and the speed dial that keeps it from turning. Perhaps over the winter I'll work on it.

Thanks, will look at it this weekend. Of course this follower was totally not in the Mark VII part Manual. Actually, I still don;t know where the clicking mechanism is.

Seems like a simple fix. Will get measurements for the porkchop as well, maybe get another milled out of delrin while I am at it.


Always wondered how the porkchop came into the speed change mechanism.

Absolutely! However yer link sent him to post #1.

Perhaps he or others might gain additional insight by starting from the beginning of the thread. To my way of thinking, it's better for the person asking the question to decide what's useful rather than me guessing.

Granted it doesn't make much difference in a short thread.

All I did to start this diatribe was to give folks the direct route as an 'option' to the longer one.
