These have been sitting my shop for over a year and I finally found time to finish.

Turned from leftovers from a neighbors live oak blowdown.

Initially turned Green then left to dry in paper bags.

Bowl 1 shallow bowl, I use for holding my keys finished in CA (a lot of CA, this was an expensive finish I iwll not do on bowls again)
Bowl 2 I'll use in the shop as a spare parts bowls finish is spray on Poly
Bowls 3 and 4 have a bit of natural edging and occlusions from knots
Bowl 3 is finished in spray on poly
Bowl 4 was cleaned off with mineral spirits allowed to dry overnight and waxed.

Bowl 4 was supposed to be taller with more natural edging but it kept chipping away during final turning.

Quite nice! How did you mount the blanks? Face plate? Chuck?

face plate with glue chuck.

I got a scroll chuck with some 8" flat jaws for christmas and used that for finishing the bottoms on 2, 3, and 4.

Thanks. Bowl 4 I like the best, I just wish it had come out as planned. It was about 1 1/2 inches taller and tapered back in towards the opening like a goblet. The opening and edge would have been about 3/4 natural edge would but as I was sanding, it just kept breaking apart; clean up with the sew, a bit more comes off, edge looks wrong etc. etc. Finally I just decided to quit while I still had something left clean and wax it for the more natural finish.
